The Domino Effects
To control the spread of the disease, majority of the countries restricted the movements of its constituents. This makes domino effects on the economy. Chances are high that projects are halted in the pipeline. If projects are halted, budgets are realigned somewhere, then salaries are affected. If salaries are affected, then the purchasing power is reduced, obligations are not meet, and family's priorities are aligned into essentials. No more budget for lavish and extravagant wants.
Investments are stunted!
Architects are widely affected as well during this pandemic. Lots of my classmates and friends lost their jobs during these tough times. I am not spared as well. My situation is hanging on a balance.
A lot of Filipinos working abroad went back home. The exodus continues as expected.
It is difficult to find jobs this time. 100+ Resumes queued with just one job. The competitions are high. I even sent 100 applications, but I have not given the opportunity for interview. It seems that the only way to get hired is having someone that can refer you to the CEO.
Facing this present reality and crisis, I am forced to contemplate and refocus to our long term plans. I reviewed some of our investments, and we decided to give up some of those we can live without, while will be maintaining the most essentials for the survival of the family.
My family is expanding this year. We are expecting our 3rd daughter this year, and the expenses and needs are getting higher. Therefore we needed an enterprise to support us survive this Pandemic.
I researched on the internet and found ideas about what will be the in demand businesses during this lockdown period.
Two things got my attention:
1. Online Selling
2. Pick-up and Delivery System
For the online selling, we have already started our lines of beauty products, Tuna and frozen foods, vegetable and species, mask and other essential items.
For the pick-up and delivery system, we are dependent with our neighbor who has vehicle in picking and delivering our items to our customers.
Sometimes, we cannot force him to deliver if he is busy with his other customers.
So, I consulted my wife about the idea of starting a delivery business, where we can directly deliver our items to our customers. We are planning to apply for a car loan, with the most basic feature, so that I can be able to use it once I am home.
I already prepared a marketing strategy to do so. I created this website incorporating this delivery, and I will add this service along with our products. A Facebook page was created, to market our service.
Creating the logo.
Ours will be dedicated with the frontliners who never back down in protecting us against the dreaded viral disease. We named it as “Via Hero”, from the root word “Viajero” means traveler/voyager.
This is not only a mere delivery system, but as a Frontliner as well, will be a heroic deed of delivering the much needed essentials on time.
I will start it small, because our source of income is still meager and restricted.
