Why you need an Architect series: Architects as a "Mystical Artist".

In Religion, Tertullian, a Latin theologian who wrote in the early third century, was the first to use "Trinity" "person" and "substance" to explain that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are "one in essence.

In Architecture, Vitruvius - A Roman architect and engineer, coined the three-part rubric “Firmitas, Utilitas et Venustas” which translate to “Strength, Utility and Beauty”. This three criteria of Architecture, guided the Architects in their design process even until now.

We are a TRINITY of the MIND, BODY and SOUL/SPIRIT

The Architectural "MINDS".

Our creative MIND thinks deeper than what you see in the exteriors.This is where BEAUTY is conceptualized.We can projectile our visions while our feet are on the ground. Our playful minds can hover like a drone, while our bodies are down-to-earth. Most of the Architects have huge and big EGO that wanting to conquer and build cities, even in Mars. You can determine how big an Architect's ego is by seeing how big or small his balls are; Architects who play golf have bigger ego than those who plays basketball as the former targets richer clients than the latter ( I am just kidding aside).

We call these Architects as Architects-of-records.Architect of record is the architect or architecture firm whose name appears on a building permit issued for a specific project on which that architect or firm performed services.Usually the "Starchitects" belongs to this group. Some of the well-known and famous Architects are to name a few; Frank Lloyd Wright, Zaha Hadid, Renzo Piano, Le Corbusier, Norman Robert Foster, Santiago Calatrava, Antoni Gaudí (my personal favorite).

The Architectural "BODIES".

Our BODY represents our desire to implement our creative endeavor. It is the STRENGTH of the Vitruvius' rubrics. A lot of Architects implements some other Architect's design. We call them an “Architect-in-charge of construction”. Here, in this category, Architects are usually "Project Architects or Project Managers".

The Architectural "SOULS/SPIRIT".

Our SOUL/SPIRIT represent our desire to share our inner strength.Here, we UTILIZE our knowledge. How deep and defined the Architects knowledge and wisdom depends how many years he has studied and experienced Architecture. When this person has specialized and became expert on a certain area of Architecture, we called them a “Consulting Architect”. Most of the "MINDS" actually belongs to this "SOUL" category.

The "Trinity" in the DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.

For the project to be successful, the trinity of the OWNER (Represented as the MIND of the PROJECT), the ARCHITECT and his Allies/Associates (The SOUL/SPIRIT of the Project) and the CONTRACTOR (The BODY of the Project) should be established early on for smooth communication and ease of implementation.

The Client-Owner should decide very well about his requirements, and the Architect should express this on the drawings, while the Contractor should know the practical solutions on how to construct it successfully. Change request are better requested on the drafting and design development stage rather than during construction due to practical and cost-oriented reasons.Clash detection should be implemented early on the drawings as well by the help of design tools like Revit BIM used by the Architectural and Engineering Team.
